New Zealand Copyright Act 1994

The Copyright 1994 is the legal outlines for copyright and how it applies to various types of works. Copyright refers to the rights given to owners of original works, and it allows them to control how their work is used.

Original copyrighted works include, books, drama performances, art, music, sound recordings, films, and more.

Copyright lasts for the duration of the author plus fifty years from the end of the author’s death, after which the work goes into public domain. Should go break someone’s copyright, the copyright’s owner can take legal action to protect their rights.
